UPDATE January 2012: It's now 4 years later, the euro has fallen due to the financial crisis; Ireland, Spain, Greece, and Italy are struggling; the US is still in a recession -- time to hit the road again and see what's going on in the Larger World! Ireland still beckons so I'm off to the land of Saints and Scholars! I'm posting this blog on top of my old blog which chronicles 19 mo. on the road.
I am searching for my role in this. How do I live my life and still be mindful of the suffering of others? Living lightly, small, conscious of the difference between what I want and what I need. And coming to the realization that idle travel may be a luxury whose time has past.
How sad! My entire life has been lived as a traveller, only pausing to reflect, work, and save for the next trip.
